hello everyone! Before we get started I want to draw attention to the fact that this review is a branch of my october event 31 days of horror and remind you to check out my daily reviews of short films. Happy Halloween and stay spooky- Red Description: A terrible plague has left the planet's population divided between zombies and humans. An unusual zombie named R (Nicholas Hoult) sees his walking-dead brethren attacking a living woman named Julie (Teresa Palmer) and rescues her. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and the pair embark on an unusual relationship. As their bond grows and R becomes more and more human, a chain of events unfolds that could transform the entire lifeless world. IMDB: 6.8 Rotten Tomatoes: 81% [73%] metacritic: 60 [7.0] Prosyeah, were back to the old format. This one works better for both reading and writing. I'm doing multiple reviews this month and this format is just easier for everyone involved anyways lets jump into it. This films biggest most notable pro is definitely originality. R and Julie are able to bring you the classic fairy tale love story, ya know the one where the beautiful woman falls in love with a partly dead man who happens to live inside of a plane (don't worry none of that was spoilers, it was pretty surface level for the flick) was able to bring plenty of cheesy predictable plot points together under a huge fog of style and a killer soundtrack. Both of the leads are talented and likeable with some decent direction and some great traditional effects. The comedy is nice and dead pan while occasionally breaking out into a little bit of raunch or early 200s humor. Before I move onto the cons I just wanted to say props to the marketing team for making those Faux twilight parody ads (as shown below) ConsSomething about this movie seemed off and it was difficult to see why until about half way through the second act. Once the stylistic choices rub off and the comedy aspect dies down a bit there isn't much to look at. The film drops off rapidly from being an interesting spoof to turning into what its making fun of. The charm only gets you so far. I watched this film with multiple other people and we were all pretty bored by the third act. The charm wore off and the film becomes predictable while somehow over welcoming its stay ( clocking in at 98 minutes). Overall Warm Bodies came off as predictable and boring but... I still recommend it. Yes the flick clearly has its flaws but the first 2/3rds of the film come off as confident and original, it might not be your favorite but its worth a shot My Rating: 75%

Stringent vegetarian Justine (Garance Marillier) encounters a decadent, merciless and dangerously seductive world during her first week at veterinary school. Desperate to fit in, she strays from her principles and eats raw meat for the first time. The young woman soon experiences terrible and unexpected consequences as her true self begins to emerge. IMDB:7/10 Rotten Tomatoes: 92% [76%] Metacritic: 81% Today I'm going to cut to the chase, I love it! Garance Marillier was absolutely amazing and this film had the one thing I've noticed 100s of horror movies over the year lacking, and that's subtlety. I won't go too far into it because I may turn this subject into an article but Horror movies need to have balance and boundaries, things need to make sense n there world and this movie does that perfectly. Every aspect is in character, the effects of everyone's actions fit perfectly. This makes everything eery and uncomfortable because you feel for these characters and the stakes feel higher than ever. This film was able to achieve a unique tone and suspend you into disbelief just enough for you believe it could actually happen. Not only are you able to believe and take in alot of bizzare concepts but the movie is able to do this through the importance of character building as we go along over the course of 103 minutes with gripping atmosphere and realistic behavior. The relationships of this movie stand out and the realism approaches show off beautifully here. DownfallsI personally wouldn't consider this a downfall but I could see many people being turned off to this movie because of the amount of body gore and anxiety. If a flick is gonna raise your anxiety or make you uncomfortable its probably this one. Description: "Despite second thoughts about their relationship, a young woman (Jessie Buckley) takes a road trip with her new boyfriend (Jesse Plemons) to his family farm. Trapped at the farm during a snowstorm with Jake's mother (Toni Collette) and father (David Thewlis), the young woman begins to question the nature of everything she knew or understood about her boyfriend, herself, and the world. An exploration of regret, longing and the fragility of the human spirit, I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS is directed and written by Academy Award (R) winner Charlie Kaufman (ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND). Inspired by Iain Reid's bestselling namesake novel." ratings: IMDB: 7.5/10 Rotten Tomatoes: 82% [N/A] Metacritic: 75% "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" is netflix's latest original adaptation (directed my Charlie Kaufman). I can safely say this film was pure gold especially in our abysmal movie season at the moment. This film is boring on genreless giving you a taste of everything it can manage while being cohesive and beautiful which leads me to my next point. Every shot in this film is absolutely amazing. the film manages to make you feel like a fly on the wall, watching the horrific story from a distance. Large portions of the film make you feel like you friends are arguing but it would be to awkward if you were to leave so you sit still intrigued. Jessie Buckley gives a stand out performance and brings reliability to the table while Jesse Plemons depicts anger and stress in the most realistic way possible. These two leads show absolute perfection in there performances and give true beauty to the blissfully grim message in the tale. FlawsAlthough I find the film virtually flawless I will count that this film is definitely not for everybody. In alot of way this film is a lot like a Darren Aronofsky film being a mind bending, genreless thriller. This film is semi-plotless and very open to interpretation. Which is where my flaw lies. because of the films presentation may not allow for heavy rewatch value. its slow and depressing so many fans may not come back to that upon second viewing My Rating: 87%Credit: |
