hello everyone! Before we get started I want to draw attention to the fact that this review is a branch of my october event 31 days of horror and remind you to check out my daily reviews of short films. Happy Halloween and stay spooky- Red Description: A terrible plague has left the planet's population divided between zombies and humans. An unusual zombie named R (Nicholas Hoult) sees his walking-dead brethren attacking a living woman named Julie (Teresa Palmer) and rescues her. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and the pair embark on an unusual relationship. As their bond grows and R becomes more and more human, a chain of events unfolds that could transform the entire lifeless world. IMDB: 6.8 Rotten Tomatoes: 81% [73%] metacritic: 60 [7.0] Prosyeah, were back to the old format. This one works better for both reading and writing. I'm doing multiple reviews this month and this format is just easier for everyone involved anyways lets jump into it. This films biggest most notable pro is definitely originality. R and Julie are able to bring you the classic fairy tale love story, ya know the one where the beautiful woman falls in love with a partly dead man who happens to live inside of a plane (don't worry none of that was spoilers, it was pretty surface level for the flick) was able to bring plenty of cheesy predictable plot points together under a huge fog of style and a killer soundtrack. Both of the leads are talented and likeable with some decent direction and some great traditional effects. The comedy is nice and dead pan while occasionally breaking out into a little bit of raunch or early 200s humor. Before I move onto the cons I just wanted to say props to the marketing team for making those Faux twilight parody ads (as shown below) ConsSomething about this movie seemed off and it was difficult to see why until about half way through the second act. Once the stylistic choices rub off and the comedy aspect dies down a bit there isn't much to look at. The film drops off rapidly from being an interesting spoof to turning into what its making fun of. The charm only gets you so far. I watched this film with multiple other people and we were all pretty bored by the third act. The charm wore off and the film becomes predictable while somehow over welcoming its stay ( clocking in at 98 minutes). Overall Warm Bodies came off as predictable and boring but... I still recommend it. Yes the flick clearly has its flaws but the first 2/3rds of the film come off as confident and original, it might not be your favorite but its worth a shot My Rating: 75%
